Yellow stands for freshness, happiness, positivity, optimism, enlightenment, remembrance, intellect and joy. This year we celebrated virtually by paying our respects to Goddess Saraswati. The tiny tots were beautifully decked up in yellow attire. They also enjoyed a craft activity in which they made creative and tastefully embellished tulips and sunflowers. To mark the welcome of spring and basant panchami, drawing and colouring competition was organized in grade 1. It helped them in exploring new ideas, creativity as well as sense of colours. The last year has been challenging to say the least, with unprecedented trials which coerced Swiss Cottage school to shift the classroom to an online format. We rose to the occasion with aplomb and implemented innovations in pedagogy to minimise the impact of Covid on our students. Validation for this is indeed heartening. An Ad-mad show was organised for grade II students in order to encourage them to explore their creative side. The students enacted an advertisement of a product of their choice using relevant props. Little Cottagians of Grade-Nursery participated in a Role play/ Fancy Dress Competition. Swiss Cottage School celebrated, the fit India school week with much aplomb. The students of KG participated in a Role- play Competition on Community Helpers. The children brought different tools and props used by helpers and spoke a few lines on the duties performed by them. The excitement and curiosity of enacting the role of their favourite helper was clearly reflected on the faces of our little children. It was a great day with ample learning along with spreading awareness about our community helpers.

Students from Swiss Cottage School showcased their oratorical skills in Virtual MUN scheduled on 28th and 29th November 2020 where 35 schools participated. MUN is basically a format to debate complex issues affecting the whole world. The event saw a participation of 10 students from classes VIII, IX, XI. Yuvraj Malhotra from class IX won 2nd position under special mention award ( UNGA). INNOVATIONS IN PEDAGOGY * The faculty members of Swiss Cottage School, conducted department wise virtual ‘micro-teaching’ sessions on 21.11.20. This turned out to be an extremely productive exercise. All teachers show cased their individual styles of pedagogy which was observed by their peer group. This led to sharing of innovations on how best to handle the online platform for teaching as effectively as feasible. Diwali is the festival of lights. It is celebrated by lighting candles and diyas to spread positivity. This diwali, little Savilians celebrated it by making hand made diyas and lanterns.

This 2nd October’2020 marks the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. An online celebration was organized in the school as a mark of respect for our revered freedom fighter. The students of Swiss Cottage school acknowledged the Gandhian principle of Ahimsa , Non violence and Swatchh Bharat by taking initiative in cleaning their houses, feeding the birds and stray animals. The students depicted the Gandhian ideals through beautiful posters thereby highlighting the struggles and work of the iconic leader. Hindi Diwas is celebrated on 14 September every year to inculcate love and pay tribute to our Mother language- Hindi. Some of the highlighting activities of the day were Hindi rhyme recitation, Sulekh pratiyogita, Hindi spell bee etc. by the little Cottagians of elementary classes.
